Inspiring the Next Generation of Builders and Thinker

Today, the Burgess Civil team had the privilege of returning to Anderson Elementary for the annual CEOs in Schools event—an initiative we’ve proudly supported since 2018.

Our owner, Ben Burgess, spent the morning engaging with students, sharing stories, and encouraging curiosity around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) pathways. The day began with Ben reading to a first-grade class and continued with interactive discussions with fifth-grade students about civil engineering, construction careers, and the future of infrastructure.

What made this visit especially meaningful is the long-standing connection between Ben and many of the fifth-grade students—some of whom he’s known since they were in kindergarten. Watching their development, curiosity, and excitement about STEM topics reinforces why programs like CEOs in Schools matter.

A Strong School Partnership

We were also honored to reconnect with Principal Ms. Sierra and her outstanding leadership team, whose continued guidance and support empower students every day. Anderson Elementary has long been a model for student-focused leadership and community engagement, and we’re proud to be part of their extended family.

Investing in the Future Workforce

At Burgess Civil, we believe that building strong communities goes beyond roads and infrastructure—it’s also about investing in people. Through our partnership with Hillsborough County Public Schools and the Hillsborough Education Foundation, we remain committed to helping develop the next generation of engineers, leaders, and innovators.

Thank you to Anderson Elementary for welcoming us back—and to all the educators helping shape the future of Tampa Bay.
